Orientation/Student Information Sheets/ Instrument Fittings/ Understanding Music Notation/Securing Instruments and Equipment/ Storage /Care and Maintenance /Posture and Breathing/Tone Production /Guided Practice /Practicing at home – 10 examples of staying ahead/ Review old, Review Recent, New Material/ Daily visual assessment/ Bi-Weekly chair placements/ Performance literature/ Challenges/ Building a Repertoire and System for Concert Performances.
7th and 8th Grade:
Orientation and Storage/Securing all instruments and Equipment/Student Information Sheets/Begin CHECKOFFS/Teaching the System of CHECKOFFS/Daily Hearings/Review of all concepts from last school year by Key/Chair Placement and Challenges begin after 1-2 weeks of review/Concert Literature is integrated after review to build a repertoire/Junior Clinic Participation/CMS Honor Band Requirements/Band Award System
Involves the exact same concepts, but accelerated with a higher degree of expectation and a higher level of mastery with regard to student function.
